Agave Ridge Behavioral Hospital Adult Inpatient Programming Overview

Every person who participates in programming at our hospital receives care from a knowledgeable team of professionals. We get to know each of our patients so that we can understand their needs, and we monitor their progress throughout their time with us. Before taking part in our inpatient program, each person completes a thorough evaluation that allows us to learn more about their medical history, current symptoms, substance use, and therapeutic goals. Based on the information we gather during the evaluation, our team creates a personalized care plan for each patient.

In our adult inpatient program, a person’s care plan may include:

  • Basic medical care: Our team of physicians and registered nurses provides medical care for patients who have minor medical needs.
  • Medication management services: For patients who take medications as part of their care plans, we offer medication management services. These services can include daily meetings with a psychiatrist and support from our nursing team.
  • Detoxification services: For patients who arrive at our facility with harmful substances in their systems, we offer a detoxification program that typically lasts between seven and 10 days. In our detox program, our addictionologists, physicians, and nurses ensure each patient’s comfort and safety as they go through the withdrawal process.
  • Group therapy: Group therapy is a core component of our inpatient program. In group therapy sessions, patients can meet and support each other and learn skills that can help them heal. On average, patients attend four daily group sessions. Patients may discuss a variety of topics in these sessions, including relapse prevention, goal setting, and coping strategies.

At our hospital, our counselors use many different modalities during therapy sessions, including:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT): Cognitive behavioral therapy helps patients identify and alter thought processes that may be keeping them from healing. Through CBT, patients can reframe and redirect their negative thoughts, which can help them heal.
  • Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT): DBT can help patients change behavioral patterns that may be affecting their well-being.
  • Psychoeducation: Psychoeducation sessions give patients the opportunity to learn more about mental health concerns, medications, and coping strategies.
